Bold prints and African textiles pay tribute to womenswear designer Autumn Adeigbo’s Nigerian heritage. With her bright and colorful designs, Autumn is devoted to positively impacting the lives of women by utilizing female-owned production facilities in the U.S., and providing global artisans with meaningful employment and fair wages. From sourcing to delivery, she embraces sustainable practices by purchasing in limited quantity and producing only what is ordered, minimizing fabric waste and surplus stock. In 2019 Autumn was named a Tory Burch fellow at the Tory Burch Foundation and in 2020 she became the first Black woman to raise more than $1 million in capital for a fashion brand.

Marketing insights from designer Autumn Adeigbo

On working with influencers

“Working with a good, reputable influencer drives sales, but gifting blindly is a waste. You want them to pick out what they want, but for that to happen you need to do the ground work to make sure your Instagram is impressive enough and you have enough social buy-in with people they respect. Then they will pay attention.”

On presentation

“Presentation is everything. You want to present the product in a way that aligns with what the customer should feel when they get it. It should be a premium experience that makes them want to come back.”

What is most important in your relationship with your customer?

“Respect. Don’t insult their intelligence by skimping on quality, charging an inflated price or having a shady supply chain. Respect them and they will respect you back”.
